Painting Services

25 years of painting experience. Exclusively using Benjamin Moore paints from Wilson's Paint Store in Huntsville.

A fresh coat of paint is one of the highest-return investments you can make in your home. We handle interior walls, trim, cabinets, and commercial spaces — using only Benjamin Moore products sourced from Wilson's Paint Store right here in Huntsville.

Good painting is 80% preparation. We'll never cut corners on surface prep, primer, or the number of coats it takes to get a result that looks right and holds up for years.

What We Offer

Interior Walls

Interior Walls

Interior wall painting is the foundation of any room refresh. Whether you're updating a single room or repainting an entire home, the difference between a good result and a great one comes down to preparation and technique.

Before we touch a brush or roller, we assess every surface: filling nail holes and cracks, sanding rough spots, and priming areas where adhesion is a concern. Glossy sections get dulled so the new paint bonds properly. Gaps at trim, corners, and transitions get caulked for a seamless look.

We work clean and protect your floors, furniture, and trim throughout. When we leave, you'll have crisp lines, even coverage, and no post-job mess to deal with. Whether it's a feature wall, a full room, or a multi-room repaint, we bring the same level of care to every square foot.

Trim and Molding Painting

Trim and Molding Painting

Trim, baseboards, crown molding, door frames, window casing — these details define the character of your space. Painting trims well is often what separates "professionally done" from "DIY-ish." We pay special attention to:

  • Fine sanding and filling gaps (wood, seams, etc.).
  • Using masking or careful edging to avoid bleed onto walls.
  • Applying multiple thin coats for a smooth, factory-style finish.
  • Handling transitions (wall to trim, inside corners) cleanly and precisely.

Because trim is right at your eye line, sloppy edges or runs become obvious fast. We take the time to make it sharp.

Cabinet Refacing

Cabinet Refacing

Cabinet painting is one of the most cost-effective transformations you can make in a kitchen or bathroom. New cabinetry can cost tens of thousands of dollars; a professional spray finish achieves the same visual impact at a fraction of that cost.

The key to a cabinet finish that looks factory-built is prep and process. We remove all doors and hardware, clean every surface to remove grease and residue, and sand thoroughly for proper adhesion. Brush marks are the enemy of a great cabinet finish — that's why we spray.

Using an HVLP sprayer, we apply thin, even coats of primer and topcoat with light sanding between coats for a glass-smooth result. We finish box interiors, face frames, doors, and drawer fronts — everything that's visible. The result is durable, cleanable, and looks completely custom.

Commercial Painting

Commercial Painting

Commercial spaces (offices, retail, warehouses, etc.) have their own demands: bigger scale, different materials, tougher usage, and tighter timelines. With Dyson Contracting's commercial painting, you get:

  • Flexible scheduling (nights, weekends) to minimize disruption.
  • Surface assessments for more robust finish systems (e.g. washability, scuff resistance).
  • Use of higher-volume equipment (sprayers, airless systems) for speed and consistency.
  • Safety and compliance (we're insured, WSIB-covered, and adhere to workplace standards).

You'll know up front what downtime is required, what areas will be off-limits, and how we plan to protect your business operations during the job.

Spray vs Rolling (Which Method & When)

Spray vs Rolling (Which Method & When)

This is one of those "behind-the-scenes decisions" that can make or break the result. Here's how we choose:

  • Spraying: ideal for large flat surfaces (walls, ceilings, cabinet faces). Fast & uniform, especially when blended expertly. Requires masking and control to prevent overspray. Great when speed and smooth finish matter most.
  • Rolling / Brushing: better for smaller areas, corners, tight spots, trims, and places where you need more control. Less waste and mess in confined or delicate areas.

We often use a hybrid approach: spray the bulk, then cut in by brush or roll for perfect edges. The goal is the best finish in the most efficient way.

Wood Staining & Finishing

Wood Staining & Finishing

If you have exposed wood elements (doors, molding, beams, cabinetry) and you want to bring out the character — not hide it — staining is the path. We offer:

  • Wood species assessment (oak, maple, pine, etc.) to choose matching stain formulas.
  • Preparation (sanding, cleaning, stripping old finishes if needed).
  • Application of stain uniformly, followed by clear coats (varnish, polyurethane) for protection.
  • Optional techniques: glazing (to accent grain), color washing, or custom finishes.

Stained wood gives warmth, richness, and texture that painted surfaces can't match. It's a great option when the material itself has beauty you want to show off.

Colour Consultation & Sampling

Colour Consultation & Sampling

Before we ever pick up a brush, getting the colour right is critical. We offer in-home consultations and sample patches (on your wall) so you see how light changes it through the day. Paint looks different under your lighting than on a showroom card.

We'll help you narrow down from dozens of shades to ones that complement your space, cabinetry, trim, and décor. This step reduces "oops" moments later.

Popcorn Ceiling Removal & Drywall

Popcorn ceilings are one of the most dated features in any home. Removing them and finishing to a smooth, paint-ready surface transforms the entire feel of a room. We scrape, skim coat, sand, and prime so your ceilings are perfectly smooth before the first coat of paint goes on.

We also handle drywall patching, repair, and small installations as part of your renovation. Damaged walls from plumbing or electrical work, holes from removed fixtures, or new partition walls for a reconfigured layout. We are not a full-service drywall company, but as part of a larger project we handle the drywall work so you are not coordinating a separate trade.

Whether it is a popcorn ceiling in one room or drywall repairs throughout a renovation, we finish every surface to a smooth, paint-ready state so the final result looks seamless.

Why We Use Benjamin Moore

We exclusively use Benjamin Moore paints, sourced from Wilson's Paint Store here in Huntsville. After 25 years of painting, we've tried a lot of products — Benjamin Moore consistently wins on coverage, colour accuracy, and durability.

Aura is our go-to for most interior walls: excellent hide, a beautiful finish, and it holds up to cleaning and scuffs over time. It is self-priming on previously painted surfaces and delivers full coverage in fewer coats than most competitors, which means less time and less paint on every project.

For trim and cabinetry we reach for Advance, their waterborne alkyd. It levels beautifully and cures to a hard, washable surface that looks factory-applied. Advance is what makes our cabinet refacing results indistinguishable from a spray booth finish.

In high-moisture areas like bathrooms and laundry rooms, we use Aura Bath & Spa, formulated to resist mildew and maintain its finish in humid environments. For ceilings, Waterborne Ceiling Paint applies flat with zero spatter and hides imperfections that eggshell or satin finishes would reveal.

We recommend the right product for each surface and environment. Paint selection isn't one-size-fits-all, and starting with the right product makes every other step easier.

Sheens & Where to Use Them

The sheen you choose affects how the paint looks, feels, and performs. Higher sheens are more washable but show every imperfection. Lower sheens hide flaws but are harder to clean. Here is what we recommend for each area of your home.

Flat / Matte

Ceilings and low-traffic areas. Hides imperfections. Not washable.

Eggshell

Living rooms, bedrooms, hallways. Subtle sheen with decent washability. Our most-used finish for walls.

Satin

Kitchens, bathrooms, kids' rooms. More washable than eggshell. Slight lustre that highlights colour.

Semi-Gloss / Gloss

Trim, doors, cabinets. Highly washable and durable. Shows every flaw, which is why prep matters so much on these surfaces.

Interior Painting Only

We focus exclusively on interior painting. This is a deliberate choice. Interior and exterior painting are fundamentally different trades. Exterior work involves scaffolding, weather windows, caulking and flashing, and products designed to flex with temperature swings and block UV degradation. Interior work demands a different set of skills: colour precision in controlled lighting, clean edges against trim and ceilings, and finishes that look beautiful up close.

By focusing on interiors, we deliver a better result than a company that splits its attention between inside and outside. If you need exterior painting, we are happy to recommend a trusted local contractor who specializes in it.

Our Work

The healthful color schemes possible in interiors at a cost of little more than the brains and stains are something wonderfully beautiful. Color has a tremendous influence on our moods and cannot be too carefully considered.
